'THOU SHALL NOT BREED' boasts Kimi Peck on one of her two websites. She even goes so far as to blame the breeders for the gross epidemic of animals being killed daily in shelters. She strongly suggests that they 'sell tupperware'. She reminds people NOT TO BUY FROM BREEDERS, ETC. Good advice...better advice...PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH! Though rescuers are required to spay and neuter all doggies that are housed in their 'Sanctuary', not all do. And what happens when you stick unaltered male and female doggies together? PUPPIES! Yikes, rescuers worst nightmare...right? Meet Autumn, one of the many unfortunate dogs that became pregnant at Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary in Burbank, in many former volunteer's opinions, DUE TO KIMI PECK'S NEGLIGENCE. The sad part of this scenerio was that poor Autumn had more than a few terrific applications to adopt her (BEFORE she became pregnant). Unfortunately, none were 'good' enough. During Autumn's pregnancy, she lived, unmonitored, in a cage. She had her puppies, unmonitored, and because the cage was too small, Autumn accidentally crushed one of her puppies to death.
Here she is living 'happily ever after' at Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary in Burbank before their closure.
RESCUERS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO ALLOW DOGS TO BREED...
Date: 05/29/2007
Because poor Autumn was living in a cage with a few unfixed male dogs, nobody knows which dog got Autumn pregnant. This should not have happened period and this should especially not have happened with a 'RESCUER'. We would like to be able to tell you that this was a 'one time' happenin' at Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary. Unfortunately, this was more of the NORM.

In March of 2002, Ms. Kimi Peck and her boyfriend approached us to ask if they could use part of our facility to house their rescue dogs...I had also known that she (Peck) was forced to leave her residence in Burbank for operating an illegal kennel. I learned later that she was evicted from a Sun Valley residential home and left that place in terrible condition. She has rented a home in San Francisquito Canyon in Saugus, but that was not working out either so she requested the move to our facility..." Former landlords to Kimi Peck and her boyfriend (these landlords had also requested Kimi Peck and her boyfriend vacate their property due to approximately 70+ more dogs than Kimi Peck was told she could keep AND the unsanitary and dispicable conditions of the 'Sanctuary' Kimi Peck and her boyfriend had set up on the property.
Kimi Peck purchased this healthy puppy from a backyard breeder using Chihuahua Rescue's funds.

Speaking of PUPPIES. Rescuers are supposed to rescue doggies NOT BUY PUPPIES. Especially purebred puppies that, unfortunately, are being sold by a backyard breeder. The same backyard breeder that contributes to the gross epidemic of Chihuahuas dying by the thousands in shelters. Meet Kimi Peck's two cute purebred beauties she bought from a backyard breeder (no...this breeder was not busted). As a matter of fact, this breeder, who has a home in Riverside County, advertises in the PENNY SAVER. So, Kimi Peck finds out about this breeder and originally her intentions are to 'BUST HER' and to 'YELL AT HER AND GIVE HER A LECTURE ABOUT WHAT SHE IS DOING IS WRONG. AND TO SPAY AND NEUTER HER DOGS'. Sitting in this breeders living room, Kimi Peck falls in love with the cute black and white puppy. The breeder negotiates a dollar amount. How much? $300.00. This breeder, rightfully so, wants cash. It's late on a Sunday night and Kimi Peck decides to go to a local Riverside supermarket, with CHIHUAHUA RESCUE ATM/VISA card in hand and TAKES OUT CASH ON THE CARD. Did this breeder learn her lesson? Not yet. Kimi Peck goes back to get yet another puppy. The cute white one. On the same trip, she also buys, yes BUYS a Pomeranian. Total Chihuahua Rescue monies Kimi Peck paid to this backyard breeder? Close to $800.00. Oh, this backyard breeder even gave Kimi Peck a discount because she was buying more than two dogs...YIKES! By the way, this breeder is still advertising in the Penny Saver...even took out a little 'larger' ad.
Kimi Peck bought this healthy puppy from a backyard breeder. The money she used was from Chihuahua Rescue's bank account.
Why would Kimi Peck purchase expensive puppies like this one from a backyard breeder when she already had 350+ dogs? ***Click on photo to read more

In 2003, one of Peck's many convictions was because she had "156 dogs on property, only allowed 113 Chihuahuas..." Burbank Animal Control stated in a ticket. She was also cited for conditions that were considered 'unsanitary'.
In 2005, Lt. Bruce Speirs stated "In May Peck had a high of 350 dogs on property..." way above her legal licensed limit.
Why then, would Kimi Peck not only take in more and more dogs that were surrendered to her (because she claimed she would take 'care' of them), but also drive hundreds of miles out of her way to BUY expensive cute puppies from backyard breeders?
Taking in many more dogs than a person can properly handle and adequately take care of, is a behavior associated with ANIMAL HOARDING. Kimi Peck was not charged or convicted with hoarding. We wonder if hoarding will ever become a law in California.

Unwilling to let visitors see the facilities where animals are kept
Unwilling to say how many animals are actually present
Little effort made to adopt, and much effort focused on acquistion
Continued acquisition in the face of declining care for existing animals

Kimi Peck didn't seem to know the dog was pregnant until I pointed that out to her, and never took her to the vet. Kimi Peck claimed she thought she had a tumor growing, but that would have warranted a vet visit, which never happened. Once it was confirmed the dog was pregnant Kimi Peck insisted that it be locked in a bathroom where it eventually gave birth. I arrived to volunteer one morning and found the dog was giving birth in the bathroom, unattended. I rushed the dog to the vet where it died after giving birth to 4 puppies. The vet said the dog had horrible teeth infections. Hoarders profess to love their animals, their children, and any other beings who fall under their control. Hoarders’ “love,” however, tends to be thinly veiled obsessive possessiveness. They use the word “mine” as insistently as a three-year-old in a sand box. They do not want to part with their animals under any circumstance––even death.
Hoarders notoriously believe that life endured in any amount of misery is preferable to death. They often also refuse to recognize death. As ANIMAL PEOPLE documented, about one in five animal hoarding cases involves people who hoard the dead with the living. They may keep dead cats and dogs stacked in a closet or corner––or in bed with them.
"In our experience, hoarders also typically do not spay or neuter, even when claiming to be “rescuing” and “sheltering” the animals in their care. Thus we find that most female animals seized from alleged hoarders are pregnant.
But fear of death and the other facts of life to the point of pretending they don’t exist are only part of the phenomenon. Hoarders often hoard inanimate objects along with their animals: cigarette butts, soda bottles, newspapers, magazines, their neighbors’ trash, junk, etc. They are secretive too, usually living far enough from neighbors and the road to evade discovery for years." Also, the reality was, Ms. Peck did not have the proper resources (including monies and manpower) to properly care for the 350+ dogs. Other charges and convictions Ms. Peck had received back up this statement. This dog was the norm - living in a filthy dirty cage never ever getting out, not even for a few minutes to exercise. Former volunteers turned Ms. Peck over to the police for a reason. And this police report and Ms. Peck's own negligence ultimately lead to the court ordered closure of her Burbank 'Sanctuary'. Over the course of about 10 years, according to court documents and former landlords, Ms. Peck has not been able to stay in one 'Sanctuary' location for more than a few years - she even received a few gilty verdicts for operating illegal kennels. This meant she moved from 'sanctuary' to 'sanctuary', every few years, 'collecting' more and more animals. Not surprising, Ms. Peck moved yet to another 'sanctuary' location after leaving Burbank...this time to an area that does not have strict animal welfare laws. According to the many lawsuits Ms. Peck has filed against former volunteers who had turned her into the police, even though these lawsuits have been dismissed, Ms. Peck continues to believe she was just a victim and refuses to take any responsibility for this closure and for her own negligence. This dog looks 'sad' while the picture was taken. Probably because he's suffering from fleas and ticks...oh, and kennel cough...oh, and worms. How do I know this? Well, not by any records...we know Kimi Peck unfortunately was convicted twice for not keeping records. This dog was a lucky one. Got adopted out. However, though all dogs are supposed to be checked for everything...yada, yada, yada...it's not always the case. The new owners love their new addition. Didn't like the fact that they were told, both verbally and in their contract, that the dog was HEALTHY.
Anyway, the day after the dog was delivered, they had to take him to the vet. $200.00 vet bill later, they decided to confront Kimi Peck. She 'ignored' their many phone calls. Why? Because she did not want to 'deal'
with it. Upset by her ignoring their phone calls, the new owners decided to stop payment on the check they gave to Kimi. They did receive a phone call from the accountant. That was about it though. Hey, the best of luck to these wonderful new owners!

Like the other dogs, Gaylord was placed in a cage NEVER GETTING OUT. He, understandably, HATED IT. After only a few days of living in the cage, he became delirious. His own fecal, urine and knocked over food and water were taking a toll on his personality and his hygiene. FORMER VOLUNTEERS REPORTED PECK TO THE AUTHORITIES FOR A REASON. GAYLORD WAS ONE OF THE MANY REASONS WHY MS. PECK SHOULD NEVER EVER BE ALLOWED TO RESCUE, OWN OR EVEN LOOK AT ANIMALS AGAIN. REMEMBER, KIMI PECK WAS ORDERED BY THE COURT TO SHUT DOWN IN BURBANK. HOARDER Kimi Peck bought this healthy "Golden" puppy from a backyard breeder

This is one of the many many MANY puppy stories of Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary. We're surprised Ms. Peck doesn't include a 'Healthy Puppies Kimi Peck bought from backyard breeders using Chihuahua Rescue's funds' on her own website. Dah, Kimi Peck CANNOT do this because people who donate money to her thinking it is going to help sick, needy and abandoned dogs, might question her unethical use of their donated monies or question her 'volunteer' accountant, SUSAN MARLOWE, CPA.
This is how we think Kimi Peck would label this picture if she had it on the Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary's website.
Kimi Peck, president of Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary, a non-profit 501c3 organization, 'showing off' a cute adorable and HEALTHY Golden Retriever puppy that she purchased from a backyard breeder. Pink lipstick and glasses make this a picture perfect picture. Kimi decided to keep this puppy for herself and make this puppy one of the hundreds of dogs that called Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary in Burbank their home. You can see the outside 'run' where this puppy grew up (also in the gallery section).
OK. We are still scratching our heads wondering how a rescuer can financially support the backyard breeders she claims she hates while begging people to continue to donate to her organization because she has so many sick and special needs dogs she is struggling to take care of.
Please read many sworn statements from former volunteers, vets and landlords at www.savethechihuahuas.org. What's sad is, when this picture was taken Ms. Peck's first grandchild was born and she was NOT there for the birth (she actually found out she weas a grandmother on a blog she frequently used to attack former volunteers who turned Ms. Peck into the police for abusing/neglecting her animals). According to Kimi Peck's son, she wasn't there for their high school graduations, either, or other special events. Ms. Peck spends much of her time attacking people who abandon their animals...many think she's a hypocrite because it appears as if Kimi Peck abandoned her own CHILDREN!!!!!
Kimi Peck sure was a CRATE LADY!

350+ animals lived with Kimi Peck in Burbank. She described the house 'Disneyland' and the warehouse a 'Sanctuary'. Most of the animals were living in crammed cages never getting out...the cages were not cleaned enough which meant the dogs lived in their own filth.
"I would describe the conditions as inhumane. There were so many animals whose feet never touched the ground. Their lives were in filthy dirty deplorable crates..." Dr. Mark Hohne, former veterinarian to Kimi Peck
"If the goal of the rescue was to provide temporary homes to unfortunate animals until permanent homes could be found, this goal was not met, nor was there any demonstrative intentions to do so. Kimi Peck certainly took in dogs, but, adopting out a dog was an uncommon event, allowing the number of dogs to increase, the conditions to worsen, and the abuse to become pervasive..." former volunteer, Joan

"I will NEVER be able to rid my mind of the memory of those hundreds of poor neglected dogs..." Holly, Grade School teacher and former volunteer to Kimi Peck
"The dogs at CR are depressed, bored, and starving for love. Many did not receive any veterinary care - even the very sick ones. It was like a prison. What could have been a great rescue operation, had simply become a collection tank...Dogs poured in - many from unsuspecting people who thought they were doing the right thing by giving their dogs to CR to find a good home, others from Kimi Peck's constant scouring of the animal shelters and adoption websites." Holly, Grade School teacher and former volunteer to Kimi Peck

Many former volunteers, vets, true rescuers and others feel Ms. Peck fits the description, PERFECTLY, of an animal hoarder.
Humane Officer Snow's statements about Hoarders:
"Hoarders often say, what's the alternative for these animals when the only alternative is euthanasia? "They just can't accept that the animal would be put to sleep, so they keep it but they're not taking care of it," says Snow, who's worked in animal welfare for almost 30 years. "Obviously, we don't want to euthanize animals, but at the same time we want them taken care of. It's the same thing as with a child -- if you have a child, you have to provide for that child food, shelter, medical care, and love and time and attention. You have to do the same thing for animals."
Igor, the DECEASED dog in this picture, suffered tremendously in Ms. Peck's care, claim former volunteers. One former volunteer who had given Ms. Peck tens of thousands of dollars, looked back after Ms. Peck's court hearing that forced her to shut down her Burbank 'Sanctuary' and stated he knew something was not right but didn't want to believe anybody could be so cruel. He still cries thinking about what he saw and especially how he had just washed Igor a few days before Igor's death. He said the dog was so filthy that maggots were crawling over his poor body.

One example is told by Joan Rudd: "On one instance, Kimi Peck asked me to hide a dog (a tiny Chihuahua) for her because the owners had learned she had their dog and they wanted it back. When Kimi Peck refused to give back their dog, they threatened to call the police. I would not participate in Kimi Peck's illegal activities. Kimi Peck then stuck the tiny dog in a filthy dirty cage without veterinary care. The tiny Chihuahua became sick while living in the cage and died just six weeks later.

DEAD AND ALIVE MICE WERE PRESENT AROUND THE DOGS AND THEIR FOOD

A dead mouse with the dogs and their food. This picture was taken in Burbank. Not surprising because Kimi Peck was cited for mice in Burbank. Karin Edmondson also claimed that while Kimi Peck and her boyfriend were tenants renting a trailer on her propery, she, too, had to comment on mice being present.

"...Kimi Peck has mice traps but not enough to take care of or control the large rodent problem. Several of the kennels had a large accumulation of rodent feces..." Animal Control officer Brenda Castaneda wrote on one of the many citation tickets given to Peck in 2004. By the way, Peck was found guilty of this violation.
Do you think she cleaned up her act or her Sanctuary? Well, just one year later, Kimi Peck lost her kennel license and had to plea bargain with the city to shut down the sanctuary. This picture was taken in 2005 and shows the typical 'outside' runs at Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary in Burbank.....

Yes, here is the cute Golden puppy all grown up. As you can see, this dog ended up like the others living with Kimi Peck...in some kind of cold filthy dirty cage with very little human contact. This dog, like many others that Kimi Peck has purchased using Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary's donated monies to help sick and abandoned dogs, was not at risk of abandonment or being euthanized by the backyard breeder Peck paid.
The only attention this Golden received from Kimi Peck was a few days during his puppy months.

MADONNA'S FORMER CHIHUAHUAS CHIQUITA AND EVITA LIVING 'HAPPILY EVER AFTER' IN THEIR NEW HOME ***CLICK ON PICTURE TO READ MORE

MADONNA'S FORMER CHIHUAHUAS, EVITA AND CHIQUITA, have HAPPY ENDINGS and the SAD UNFORTUNATE DEATH OF ROSITA LEAVES HER WITH AN UNHAPPY ENDING -
MANY FORMER VOLUNTEERS HAD HEARD ABOUT INSIDE EDITION DOING A PIECE ON CHIHUAHUA RESCUE SAVING MADONNA'S THREE DOGS. PATRICIA AND KIMI HAD A DIFFERENT VERSION (from the former volunteers' version) OF HOW ROSITA HAD DIED. THEY CLAIMED ROSITA DIED DUE TO AN INJURY TO HER MOUTH/JAW (an injury from her former owner, NOT MADONNA) AND THEY EVEN WENT SO FAR TO CLAIM ROSITA DIED IN PATRICIA'S ARMS ON THE WAY TO THE VET.
FORMER CHIHUAHUA RESCUE VOLUNTEERS WHO WITNESSED THE TRUE DEATH OF ROSITA TELL OF A MUCH DIFFERENT FAIT.
Volunteers and an apparent autopsy report state pneumonia was the cause of her death. As a matter of fact, Kimi, Patricia, and a few other volunteers were eating dinner at a restaurant when Rosita died at Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary. Rosita had apparently been sick for months and like many other sick dogs at Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary, Rosita went untreated. While eating at the restaurant, Kimi received a call from her boyfriend, Dave, who stated 'Rosita's dead'. They quickly left the restaurant and rushed back to the kennel where they picked up a dead Rosita and drove her to the vet at which time an autopsy was performed. According to former volunteers, the autopsy report concluded Rosita died from pneumonia. It was at that time, Kimi finally decided to adopt Chiquita and Evita to a wonderful and loving woman who immediately took them both to the vet. According to a vet bill, Chiquita had to have extensive teeth cleaning including extractions (something Kimi Peck should have taken care of)
All of the Inside Edition segment where Kimi Peck 'describes' her version of the death, was thankfully cut out.

Patricia, Chihuahua Rescue VP and money enabler,is holding Evita. Paul, a caring rescuer and a FORMER volunteer to CR, is holding Chiquita. Missing from this picture is Rosita, Madonna's third very expensive Chihuahua. Rosita, unfortunately, died...due to, according to former CR volunteers, the pneumonia virus that killed numerous Chihuahuas at CR's 'sanctuary'. Many former volunteers claim this was negligence on Ms. Peck's part. Don't forget, Ms. Kimi Peck is listed on Pet-abuse.com for many charges and convictions she obtained for not properly caring for the animals in her care. It's too bad that Madonna didn't bother making sure her three Chi's were given to a loving and caring person or family. Did you know that Madonna also gave away her pitbull? We have no further info on the pittbull though we can only imagine...Bottom line is...Madonna threw her loving animals away as if they were trash. We say...shame on Madonna. We nominate Madonna as being the WORST CELEBRITY PET OWNER EVER and PRAY SHE NEVER EVER BECOMES A PET OWNER IN THE FUTURE.
'THREATENING LETTER SHANNON KEITH SENT TO BURBANK OFFICIALS
Date: 03/06/2009
Ms. Peck was cited many times because of the FACT she could not properly care for so many animals...citations included unsanitary conditions, having no records, not having enough space, mice and rats in the animals food, etc. (see our citation section)...Ms. Peck even plead Guilty to many of the charges and the remaining ones, she plea bargained. Ms. Peck felt that she was being harassed by Burbank officials (sound familiar) and had her then animal right's attorney, SHANNON KEITH, send a threatening letter to Burbank officials telling them to stop harassing her 'rescue' client and instead, work with Ms. Peck. Just a few years later, Kimi Peck would be legally forced to close this Burbank 'sanctuary'

BEVERLY HILLS OFFICE BUILDING WHERE MS. SUSAN MARLOWE SHARES AN OFFICE WITH OTHER ACCOUNTANTS
Date: 03/19/2009
We posted this picture because Ms. Peck claims to be doing business out of Beverly Hills and the only address she uses is that of her 'volunteer' accountant, Susan Marlowe, CPA. This is the address where Ms. Marlowe is receiving donations for Ms. Peck's illegal kennel. The building is NOT zoned for an animal shelter. By the way, Ms. Marlowe's other 'rescue' client, CYNTHIA GUDGER, also used this same Beverly Hills address for some of her MOMMIE CATS LITTLE ONES correspondence...Also, Susan Marlowe herself runs a non-profit rescue organization and 'facility', DOG AT HOME, INC., and claims to be a established rescuer...; however, this is the ONLY address she uses so we are not sure where this so called 'facility' is located. Again, this building is NOT zoned for an animal shelter or 'facility' so maybe Ms. Marlowe's 'facility' is hidden away somewhere.
